Happy Earth Day!

Did you know that Earth Day is 39 years old today? Believe it or not, I was at one of the first Earth Day celebrations way back in 1970! I was a Freshman at Oswego State and to call attention to the effects of pollution on the environment, we buried a VW Bug on campus. Thinking back on it, I'm not sure that was the best way to go about it, but Earth Day has been celebrated on April 22nd ever since.

We have put up a display of books about taking care of the Earth by recycling, saving energy and living green. Check it out the next time you visit the library. And today, do something nice for the Earth!

Here's a website to check out that has some fun, earth-friendly activities for kids: EarthDay.gov
