Children's Book Week Activities

May 11th - 17th is Children's Book Week 2009. We have some fun activities planned to celebrate.

On Wed. May 13th at 4:00pm we will be having a Flamingo Fling. Local author and illustrator Sheila Jarkins will be joining us to talk about and read from her recently published children's book, "Marco Flamingo". After her presentation we will be making flamingo puppets to take home. Registration is required for this program.

On Fri. May 15th at 4:00pm we will be showing "Horton Hears a Who", the movie based on the classic book by Dr. Seuss.

Also during this week we will be holding a Chirldren's Book Week gift bag drawing. All you have to do to enter is to stop in and fill out a slip.

This is the final week of our Children's Buy-a-Book campaign. It's your last chance to show your love of children's books and the library by buying a book to honor a child in your life or as a gift from your family. Buy-a-Books are on display in the Children's Room.

Check out the Children's Book Week website for more fun activities.

This is also the week that the NYS 3 Apples Children & Teen Book Awards will be announced. Check back for the winning titles!
